How do I get the jpeg numbers to show up on my photos in the new photos program? Can I export edited RAW images from the photos program?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

The filenames with the image numbers do only show in the Info panel for a photo. Select the photo in Photos and enter ⌘I to open the Info panel.

Photos is showing the filename in the Info panel for a photo, but below the thumbnails it will only show titles, not filenames.

If you enable metadata in the View menu in Photos "View > Metadata", then enable all options, you will see the titles.

But you will still have to copy the filenames to the Title field, if you want to see the filenames.

We posted an Apple Script in the User Tip section (Photos for Mac User Tips) to copy the filenames to the title field for selected photos. See:

The file names are not automatically displayed under the thumbnails as in iPhoto. To get what you want first go to the View ➙ Metadata menu option and check all of the items in the list:

Next, to get all of the file names imported into the Title fields use one of these two Applescripts from the Photos for Mac User Tipssection:

Script: Batch Changing the Titles to the Filename w/Extension

Script: Changing the Title to the Filename without Extension

This will write the file names to the Title field under each thumbnail. Do not try to do the entire library at once as you may get timeouts for the script. Do it in smaller segments.
